【摘要】As for di（ 地 ） in zuodi（ 坐地 ）, most scholars consider it as a tense auxiliary, functioning as zhe（ 着 ）; while others consider it as a modal particle after intransitive verbs. After an inspect of its pragmatic history, here points out that zuodi （坐地） means sitting on the floor（ 坐于地 ） respectively, deriving from a phrase to a word. They are not equal to zuozhe（ 坐着 ） since di （ 地 ） is not equal to zhe （ 着 ）.
